Interview & Resume Writing Tips!

Interviewing

Dress For Success - When you are on an interview you should always dress in a way to present yourself in a positive manner. The rule is to dress one level higher than the normal dress code for the company.

Provide A Resume - Provide your interviewer a resume when you arrive, even if you have already mailed or e-mailed one to this person.

No Cell Phones - Do not bring a cell phone, pager or any other electronic device with you to an interview. This could be disruptive and it is very unprofessional.

Personal Hygiene - Before you go to the interview be sure you are well groomed. This includes facial hair for men. Do not over do it on the perfume or cologne, if the smell is too strong the interviewer will be distracted and could end the interview early.

Do Your Homework - It is important to do your homework before you go to an interview. Go to the company's website and learn something about their business. This could be helpful during an interview and may impress the interviewer.

Never Speak Negatively - Never talk about a past employer in a negative manner. This will make you look unprofessional.

Resume Writing

Job Objectives - When you list your objective, tailor it to the specific job that you are applying for.

Start With Strengths - When describing your accomplishments and work history, talk about your strengths first.

Make A List - It is much easier to list your accomplishments and skills than to have it outlined in a narrative format.

Work History - When describing your work history, be sure to list your most current employer first. It is also important to describe functions of the job or software (Budgeting, Purchasing or Java, QuickBooks, etc.).
